Happy Birthday Katie

It's kind of hard to believe that Katie is 6 years old. It doesn't seem like long ago she was a rat-sized ball of fur in my bathroom closet. She was even a shy, scaredy kitten—very sweet and cuddly too.

Can I come in? Her siblings are balled up, napping together in this old shoe box.

But she's grown into a beautiful cat. She's graceful and not afraid to flop on my laptop, keyboard or kindle when she wants attention.  She likes ham, shoelace, licking plastic and cuddling her dad. I guess some things never change.

Katie loves a good sunny spot. She also loves regally sleeping on top of a pillow. I'm not quite sure how these pillows got this way—they're extra pillows that we usually keep behind the bed. They must have fallen over, but they made a perfect little kitty couch for Katiw to lounge on.

Mojo meets Lexi

In college I had a photojournalism professor who was all about hard news photography. I think his rule was no kids and no puppies....He would fail you if you turned one of those photos in. As a joke one day, I turned in a photo of two dogs wearing Hawaiian shirts in a little red wagon. (I shot it at a news assignment I was already shooting.) Apparently I got points for making him laugh because I got an A in the class.

I still love to shoot kids and puppies though.

Here is Miss Lexi celebrating her first birthday....and getting sniffed by Mojo. Mojo loves babies, especially cute delicious looking ones.*
